Simon F. Kropp received a bachelor's degree in education from the Southern Missouri Teachers College in 1938. He received his master's degree from the University of Missouri in 1939. He began advanced graduate study at University of California Los Angeles in 1940, but left in 1941 to do military service. From 1941-1946 Kropp was a Warrant Officer for the United States Army.
